• Designing and implementing engaging lesson plans incorporating visual elements to enhance learning experiences
• Creating educational materials, including posters, charts, visual aids, and worksheets to support lesson objectives and reinforce key concepts
• Collaborating with colleagues to develop thematic units and classroom displays to stimulate creativity and imagination
• Establishing positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration

Major accomplishments include: 
Designing specially tailored educational materials to enhance the cognitive and fine motor development of students as well as implementing a weekly e-newsletter to increase class/parent communication and improve teacher/parent/child relationships.

Freelance Graphic Designer  |  (Jan 2009 – May 2016)

Overview: Responsible for the design and layout of Penzeys Spices catalog.

Graphic Designer  |  (Jan 2006 – Oct 2008))

Overview: Responsible for the design and layout of Penzeys ONE magazine and Penzeys Spices catalog as well as:
• Collaborating with design team to develop creative concepts and execute design solutions that align with the company’s objectives and brand guidelines
• Directing photo shoots as well as photo scanning, editing, and retouching
• Reviewing/correcting all proofs prior to printing

Major accomplishments include: 
• Redesign of entire Penzeys Spices catalog, including fonts, photographic styles, and overall look in order to improve readability, product placement and increase sales
• Developed new workflow system for magazine and catalog in an effort to streamline the creative process, including building InDesign templates and style guides to increase overall consistency from issue to issue

Overview: Responsible for the design and layout of 10+ hobby/leisure how-to books.

Senior Graphic Designer  |  (Aug 2000 – Jan 2006)

Overview: Responsible for the design and layout of The Writer, American Snowmobiler,
Classic Toy Trains, Dollhouse Miniatures, and Bead&Button magazines as well as:
• Conceptualizing and designing visual elements for a wide range of editorial-related print and digital projects including house and outside print advertisements, brochures, cover wraps, insert cards, direct mail, web advertisements, specialty logos and trade show booth displays and signage
• Consistently working with Art Director to develop and maintain magazine branding
• Partnering closely with editorial teams to create innovative designs that align with their unique objectives and brand standards
• Participating in the review and revision process, incorporating feedback from art and editorial team members to refine designs and achieve desired outcomes
• Directing photo shoots, photo editing and retouching
• Building and updating Adobe InDesign templates used during monthly production
• Assisting Art Director in redesigning magazines
• Providing design support and guidance to junior team members

Team Leader for The Writer magazine 
Responsible for all of the above as well as:
• Creating a workflow schedule for each monthly issue and ensuring that all projects were within budget and met their deadlines as well as coordinating the actions of other departments involved in this process
• Delegating feature stories to designers
• Coordinating interdepartmental critiques of magazine layouts and cover designs
• Reviewing, correcting, and approving all proofs prior to printing

Major accomplishments include: 
Selected as leading member of the InDesign Transition Team, acting as an educational trainer and resource for 20+ members of the Art department when company transitioned to InDesign from Quark Xpress.

Overview: Sole designer of magazine encompassing everything from cover and story layouts to house and outside print advertisements. Also implemented redesign of magazine and media kit.
